Cancelling your Premium subscription does not delete anything. You keep Premium until the end of the billing period, then the account moves to Free and all your records remain in place. Deleting your account is a separate and permanent action.
If you do delete the account, the records tied to it are removed along with every uploaded document, and your subscription is cancelled at the end of the period you already paid for.
The retention policy
- Records and uploaded documents are removed from active systems within 30 days of account deletion.
- Backups can take up to 90 days to expire after that.
- Financial records tied to your subscription (payments, invoices) are kept for seven years to meet Canada Revenue Agency and IRS record-keeping requirements.
- Tenant documents you uploaded are kept while you keep the tenant on file.
Export before you delete
Deletion is not reversible and there is no undo. Take the export first: open Reports and download the CSV and the PDF summary for the full period you care about. For tenant, lease, or document records that the CSV does not cover, email hello@properlease.app before you delete, not after.
What to do in ProperLease
- To stop paying but keep everything, cancel the subscription from the Account page. See can I cancel anytime.
- To leave entirely, export your data first from Reports.
- Delete the account from the Account page in the iPhone app, or write to hello@properlease.app to have it done.
- If you only want a specific tenant's information removed, delete that tenant record rather than the whole account.
Under the terms of service you are the data controller for tenant information. A tenant asking to access or delete their data should be answered by you, and ProperLease's default is to refer such a request back to you.
