Yes. Export your customers and transactions from QuickBooks to CSV or Excel, then run the ProperLease importer and map the columns. Properties, tenants, and payment history come across, so your dashboard and year-end reports are accurate from day one rather than starting at zero.
Most small landlords finish the move in an afternoon, including the reconciliation.
Why the shapes differ
QuickBooks thinks in accounts and transactions. A rental business thinks in properties, units, tenants, and leases. That is why the import maps your columns instead of expecting a fixed export format, and why leases and deposits are set up inside ProperLease afterwards rather than pulled from the ledger, where they never really existed as records.
What to do in ProperLease
- In QuickBooks, export customers and transactions to CSV or Excel.
- Tidy the file: one header row, one record per row, consistent dates, no currency symbols in amount columns.
- In ProperLease, open Import from the More menu and choose QuickBooks.
- Map your columns to Address, Tenant name, Payment amount, and the rest. Unmapped columns are skipped.
- Confirm, then reconcile: open the Dashboard on Year to date and check the collected rent matches the QuickBooks figure. Spot check one tenant's payment history against the old file.
Properties first, tenants second, payments last. Each record then has something to attach to, and a bad mapping only costs you one pass.
