Apps and access

Can my accountant or business partner have their own login?

Not today. A ProperLease account is a single landlord login with no team members, roles, or invites. Share a report export with your accountant instead.

Not today. A ProperLease account is one landlord, one login. There are no team members, no roles, no seats, and no way to invite someone else into your portfolio.

For an accountant, the intended path is the export: hand them the PDF summary or the CSV rather than a login. That is what most accountants want anyway.

Why it is built this way

Access control runs on a single rule enforced at the database level: a record is visible to the account that owns it. On top of that, each account has its own encryption key for the sensitive tenant and property fields. Adding a second person to an account means rethinking both, and doing that carelessly is exactly how tenant data leaks.

It is a real limitation, not a philosophical position. It is worth knowing before you set up if you and a partner both expect to log in.

What people do in the meantime

  • An accountant. Export from Reports and email them the PDF and the CSV. They rarely want to learn a new app.
  • A co-owning partner. One account, shared credentials, is what people do today. It means a shared sign-in, so treat the password accordingly and use a password manager rather than a note.
  • A bookkeeper doing the entry. Same arrangement, with the same caveat.

What to do in ProperLease

  1. Open Reports, set the date range, and download the PDF summary and the CSV.
  2. Send those to your accountant rather than credentials.
  3. If you must share a login, use a password manager and change the password when the arrangement ends.
  4. Keep your own login secure and write to hello@properlease.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
A shared login is your responsibility

Under the terms of service you are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including anything a person you shared it with does.
